Ten people were injured in a shooting Tuesday in Denver as basketball fans celebrated the Nuggets’ first NBA championship win, police said.
Denver police said the shooting took place at about 12:30 a.m. — just over three hours after the game — and was within a mile of Ball Arena, where the Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat on Monday night.
Three of the victims are in critical conditions while the others are believed to have non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

What happened in the Denver shooting?
A suspect in the shooting was among the six people with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Denver police. The suspect was taken into custody, police said.
“As far as what led up to this altercation that resulted in the shots being fired, that’s still under investigation at this time,” Denver Police Department spokesperson Doug Schepman said. “It did occur in the area where we had largest gathering of folks celebrating during the night.”
The shots were fired in an area in which a small crowd was gathered and where revelers were flocking to bars after the game, Schepman said.
