A growing number of countries have condemned Iran’s missile strike on the Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar, which houses thousands of US troops.
Egypt and Lebanon denounced the attack in separate statements, with Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun and Egypt’s foreign ministry urging restraint. Oman also criticised the strike, while pointing to Israel’s 13 June missile attack on Iran as the initial trigger for the ongoing escalation.
In a statement posted on X, Oman’s foreign ministry condemned both the Israeli assault and Iran’s response, warning against continued missile exchanges in the region.
The Gulf Cooperation Council’s Secretary General joined the chorus of condemnation, with all six member states — including Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain, issuing separate statements against the Iranian strike.
