Instagram has launched its new product, Threads, to compete with Snapchat. It is a unique application that is designed to be used by your close friends. This application will allow you to share your photos, videos, and text instantly with your friends. So, without any delay, let’s get into this app and find more about it.

There are three components available in the Threads. The first component (core component) is the camera that allows you to take photos and videos. At this stage, you won’t have any filters, so you will be using the normal mode to capture videos/photos. The core component has the profile shortcuts at the right bottom that you can use to bring your frequently connected friends and share your pictures/videos instantly, altogether. All you need is to click your picture/video, tap the screen, and swipe up to send it to your friends. It is a quick process that takes a microsecond to execute.

The second component is the inbox where you can find the messages received from your friends. You can even send the words to your close friends. It is the smart inbox which is limited to your close friends only. This component also has the group chat option.

The third component is the status screen that is the traditional status feature, available in all Facebook products. Similar to those, you can use the prebuilt stickers and add them to your image and put it on your status screen. Here you have the feature of time restriction as you can choose from one hour to four hours to display your status. Another AI-based feature is the ‘Auto Status’ that will be automatically published depending upon your current location. If you are studying for long and you plan to move out, the Instagram Threads AI will take it as ‘you are fed up living in your home, and you need a break.’ This status will be auto-publish on the Threads and will be seen by your friends.

As the Auto Status feature requires reading about user behaviour along with some other information, Instagram released the information associated with the privacy policies. They stated.

Threads will request your location, movement, battery level, and network connection from your phone in order to determine what context to share. For example, Auto Status might use your precise location to show your friends that you’re “At a cafe.” Or Auto Status might detect that you’re biking and set your status to “On the Move.” Before this is enabled, you’ll be told what information Auto Status is requesting and will be asked to specifically agree. Auto Status will not share your precise location with your friends, and when Threads sends location information to our server to look up locations, it’s not stored there – this information is only stored on your device for a limited time. It is also deleted if you remove Threads.

Instagram tends to release this privacy note as the Facebook scandals have threatened the users from using its products and sharing their accurate information online. Comparatively, Snapchat asks you for permission before using your personal information.
