Franklin Templeton has appointed Daniel Gamba as its new Chief Commercial Officer, effective 15 October 2025.
Gamba will be responsible for overseeing global sales, marketing, and product strategy, and will be based in New York City.
He will report directly to Jenny Johnson, the CEO of Franklin Templeton, and will also join the company’s executive committee.
Johnson said: “I’m excited Daniel has joined our firm in this pivotal role at a time when we are seeing growth across our business. Daniel is a widely respected industry leader and brings extensive experience, which includes work across various geographies and asset classes, including public and private markets.
“Daniel’s expertise aligns perfectly with our mission, culture and future ahead, and I’m confident that under his leadership, we will further strengthen sales, marketing, product development and customer experience to deliver the best possible investment outcomes for our clients.”
Franklin Templeton has also announced that Gamba, along with Terrence Murphy, head of Public Market Investments, and Matthew Nicholls, chief financial and operating officer, will assume the roles of co-presidents on the same date.
The trio will collaborate closely with Johnson and the board of directors to continue executing the company’s long-term plans.
Gamba succeeds Adam Spector, who has transitioned to the role of CEO at Fiduciary Trust International.
Gamba brings 25 years of experience to Franklin Templeton, having previously served as president of Northern Trust’s asset management business, where he managed over $1.3tn in assets.
His leadership at Northern Trust included driving organic growth, improving margins, and accelerating innovation across various markets.
Prior to that, Gamba’s over two-decade tenure at BlackRock saw him leading investments, research, distribution, and product teams.
Gamba stated: “This is the right time for me to join Franklin Templeton and support its journey in becoming the world’s leading asset manager to help clients navigate current and future investment needs.
“I’m looking forward to working with Jenny, Matthew and Terrence and the rest of the leadership team to support the acceleration of that progress.”
Franklin Templeton has been actively expanding its investment capabilities to serve a diverse range of clients worldwide.
Through organic growth and strategic acquisitions, the company has broadened its offerings to include alternative assets, ETFs, and custom solutions like Canvas, as well as expanding its presence in the retirement and insurance sectors.
