New York faces extreme heat and humidity in the months of summer. Every year enormous crowds get accumulated at water places to get relieved from tremendous heat. But because of this pandemic the current scenario is different, people are now losing their patience and boredom is hitting them hard as they are keeping themselves quarantined.
Due to the increased crowd, numbers of boats and other recreational appliances have been increased by the sole proprietors to fulfill the increased demands and just because of this, heavy crowds in water bodies are being witnessed. The increased rush has also increased the rate of accidents. People often book ski drives personally to feel relaxed.
On Monday night, this relaxation claimed the lives of two men. According to police officials, the loss of lives took place because of the crashing of Jet Ski. The two men who lost their lives were identified as Jorge Mancebo-Reyes a 22-year-old boy and Luis Lugo a man whose age was 48 years.
The mechanism of the Jet Ski clashed because of which both men were trashed into the water body between Bronx Mainland and City Island. An owner of a private boat rescued both the men and then they were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center where the doctors declared him dead. After witnessing this accident one of the owners of Hoboken who is concerned with tourists’ recreation spoke up saying “people don’t take safety measures seriously, thinking ski rides are just for enjoyment. They are unaware of the fact that these machines can tear apart their limbs within half a second”.
