Ashley Johnson has filed a restraining order against an ex-boyfriend after a string of alleged abuses against the actress and her family.
Johnson filed the request for a restraining order against Brian Wayne Foster at the Chatsworth Courthouse in Los Angeles on Friday, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY. A hearing on Johnson’s restraining order is expected to be held June 9.
According to the filing, an emergency protective order was issued against Foster on May 15 after he allegedly attempted to extort $150,000 from “The Last of Us” actress and “Growing Pains” alum. Johnson also cited Foster’s history of verbal abuse and “very unhinged mind from his addictive use of narcotics” as additional reasons for the order.

Johnson alleged “many acts of terror” by Foster, with whom she broke up with in March, against her and her family throughout the relationship, such as repeated insults and property damage. Foster was forced to vacate her Tarzana, California, home in May after the emergency protective order was issued, per the filing.
“My family members have been the subject of his outbursts, drug use, threats, and sexual assaults,” Johnson said in the filing, calling Foster “mentally unstable.” “They are fearful that he is close to the edge, has the ability to murder, and will cause harm not only to me, but to them.”
An attorney for Foster was not listed in Johnson’s restraining order request. Contact information for Foster’s representatives was also not immediately available.
Johnson’s mother, sister and two nephews are listed as individuals to receive protection from the restraining order. The actress has also asked, according to the order request, that Foster stay at least 500 feet away from her and her family members, abstain from all contact and refrain from committing further abuses (including harassment, stalking, destruction of personal property, assault and making threats).
Foster, a writer, producer and actor, is best known for his hosting role on the talk show “Talks Machina,” which discussed episodes of the fantasy web series “Critical Role,” a weekly broadcast featuring professional voice actors role-playing on Dungeons and Dragons campaigns. Johnson, who has starred on “Critical Role” since 2015, frequently appeared on “Talks Machina” during its run from 2016-2021.
