(BPRW) New National Resource Hub Launched to Support Women of Color Living With Metastatic Breast Cancer
Breastcancer.org and Tigerlily Foundation partner to advance health equity through culturally informed education and community outreach.
(Black PR Wire) Philadelphia, PA — In honor of Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, Breastcancer.org, in partnership with the Tigerlily Foundation, has launched a new Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) Resource Hub — a comprehensive, bilingual, mobile-friendly platform designed to meet the cultural and community needs of people living with metastatic breast cancer, with a special focus on Black and African American women who face disproportionate barriers to care. The hub is available in both English and Spanish to ensure broader access and inclusion for diverse communities.
Built by people with MBC and for people with MBC, the hub brings together trusted, culturally relevant resources, including clinical trial finders, mental health and wellness support, symptom trackers, personal stories, and educational tools. The platform aims to empower users with knowledge, foster connection, and improve access to equitable care nationwide.
“For many women of color living with metastatic breast cancer, navigating care can be isolating and overwhelming,” said Dr. Marisa C. Weiss, Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Breastcancer.org. “We often hear that October — while a time of celebration for some — can be especially difficult for people with MBC, who face ongoing treatment and uncertainty. This new hub represents a meaningful step toward health equity, providing trusted information, emotional support, and real stories that reflect the diversity, strength, and lived experiences of the people we serve.”
“I’ve never seen as much beauty in the world as I have in my friends living with metastatic breast cancer. They raise chickens, they’ve traveled the world, they laugh loudly and love deeply. But what inspires me most isn’t just what they do — it’s how they live,” said Maimah Karmo, President & CEO, Tigerlily Foundation. “They’ve turned their pain into purpose, their challenges into growth, and their stories into light for others to follow. Their resilience reminds us that true beauty isn’t defined by what we go through, but by how we rise, rebuild, and keep shining.”
The hub was developed in close collaboration with Tigerlily Foundation’s ANGEL Advocates — women of color living with breast cancer who contributed their perspectives, experiences, and leadership to ensure the platform authentically represents the MBC community.
The Metastatic Breast Cancer Resource Hub is now live at Breastcancer.org/mbc-hub, featuring culturally relevant content such as “How to Talk About a Metastatic Breast Cancer Diagnosis at Work,” “How Spirituality Can Help,” and “Mental Health Support for People With Metastatic Breast Cancer” along with powerful personal stories like “Felicia’s Story: Making Genetic Testing Decisions for Her Family and Her Community.” These stories, resources, and tools were designed to reflect the lived experiences and cultural perspectives of people of color living with metastatic breast cancer.
