From Washington, D.C. word comes that food workers are organizing massive protests that will target members of the incoming Trump Administration.
Industry veterans, bartenders and servers are pledging to refuse service and cause mayhem inside dining rooms across the capital city.
Washingtonian first reported on the culinary insurgency in a story titled, “Clashes Are Coming for Trump Officials Dining Out in DC.”
“The shift in politics will be visceral across several aspects of daily life. You expect the masses to just ignore RFK eating at Le Diplomate on a Sunday morning after a few mimosas and not to throw a drink in his face?,” says Zac Hoffman, a DC restaurant veteran who is now a manager at the National Democratic Club (but has never worked at Le Diplomate).
The magazine interviewed a number of unnamed waiters, bartenders and others who plan to make dining out a miserable experience for anyone connected to the Trump Administration.

The Democrats are all about tolerance and acceptance, not so much decorum or basic table manners. If you don’t pledge allegiance to their far-left agenda or ideology, it’s no soup for you!
In 2018 the owner of the Red Hen in Lexington, Virginia, ordered then-White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her dinner guests to leave the restaurant. They were denied service.
Sanders posted a message on social media explaining that the owner would not feed her party because she worked for President Trump. Sanders politely left the establishment.
“Her actions say far more about her than about me,” Sanders wrote. “I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.”
Washingtonian also recounted multiple instances of Republicans being publicly shamed at DC restaurants, from Stephen Miller to Sen. Ted Cruz.
Just look at what happened to fine-dining restaurant Fiola in 2018. A group protesting Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation swarmed the Italian dining room to confront Senator Ted Cruz and his wife, Heidi, with chants of “We believe the survivors.” Managers called the police and hid the Cruzes in the kitchen until the couple could be safely escorted away.
The great irony here is that President Trump was the only candidate defending the service industry. He promised to make good on his promise not to tax their tips.
And as the Washingtonian noted, Republicans are actually more docile diners and they tip better than Democrats.
“I think my tip average from Republicans—at least ones that I or a coworker has recognized—is close to 30 percent. With Dems, I’m surprised if it’s over 20,” one upscale bartender told the publication. At events he’s worked that are hosted by Republicans, the guests ask for no-fuss drinks like bourbon, vodka-sodas, or wine. At the Democratic events, he’s seen many more substitutions and special requests.
The DC restaurant industry should throw a parade for President Trump thanking him for putting more money back into their pockets. Instead, they are going to literally spit in his face — and possibly his hamburger. My recommendation for Republicans is to pack a sandwich for lunch or drop by Chick-fil-A. It’s their pleasure to serve everyone, regardless of political affiliation.
