Live: World awaits Iranian response after US hits nuclear sites

Foreign Minister Penny Wong tells ABC News the US hasn’t asked for Australian troops, yet Canberra backs the strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.

“When it comes to nuclear material and the world long agreed it’s not in the interests of collective peace and security for Iran to gain access to a nuclear weapon.”

“It’s obviously a very precarious, risky and dangerous moment the world faces. But … we need to reach a diplomatic solution to end this crisis.”

Wong is urging Tehran back to negotiations to prevent further escalation.
