The election-season advertising barrage this year is terrifying. We’ve all seen local candidate ads grow increasingly virulent, but this year, they are scarier than Halloween. Right here in suburban Washington, evil is afoot.
If these ads are to be believed, the opponents of these supposedly civic-minded candidates strongly support burglary. They “stand” with murderers and pornographers and are “beholden” to groups that want to defund the police. The ads use the words “stand with” and “beholden to” a lot, which is kind of a dodge, but the message is clear: The candidates are pro childhood pregnancy and putting murderers, pedophiles and rapists on the street — preferably ASAP.
