The police said they were responding to a shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets mall in Allen, Texas, about 25 miles north of Dallas, on Saturday.
The Allen Police Department said on Twitter that law enforcement was at the mall and that an “active investigation is underway.”
A video circulating on social media showed people running through a parking lot in front of a shopping center with loud popping sounds in the background.
Allen Premium Outlets is an outdoor mall with more than 120 outlet stores, according to its site.
