Jennifer Lopez might have her mom to thank for her marriage to Ben Affleck.
After breaking off their engagement in 2004, the Hollywood sweethearts rekindled their romance in 2021 and tied the knot last summer. Lopez’s mom, Guadalupe Rodríguez, takes credit for the reunion.
“I knew that you would always get back together because I prayed for 20 years,” Rodríguez said on the “Today” show Wednesday, in a brief appearance at the end of Lopez’s interview.
Lopez, 53, playfully rolled her eyes about her mom’s declaration, but spoke effusively about Affleck in her sit-down with Hoda Kotb. The “Hustlers” actress has two children with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck shares three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

“He’s a wonderful, wonderful father,” Lopez said. “And a father figure to (twins Max and Emme, 15) as well, because he has his own three beautiful children, and then there’s us.
“He really steps up to the challenge of what that is and what that means,” she continued. “And they love him. They love him. And they appreciate him, and so do I.”
Appearing on morning talk show “The View” Thursday, Lopez got emotional as she echoed praise of Affleck, 50, calling him “a present, loving dad” who “shows up every single day.”
‘He’s an amazing dad,” Lopez said. “It brings tears to my eyes. He is honestly the best dad I’ve ever seen. He’s so involved, he teaches me about how to interact with the kids sometimes.”
Lopez is currently promoting her Netflix thriller “The Mother” (streaming May 12). She has also been teasing her forthcoming album, “This Is Me… Now,” which will be released later this year and is inspired in part by her relationship with Affleck.
