Prince George is the first of his siblings to hit double digits!
Prince William and Princess Kate‘s eldest child turned 10 years old on Saturday. To mark the occasion, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a new birthday portrait of George. “Wishing Prince George a very happy birthday!” they captioned the photo on Instagram.
In the portrait, George sits on a stone staircase with his arms resting on his legs. The 10-year-old holds a beaming smile while wearing a casual outfit: a blue and white checkered shirt tucked into teal pants with brown shoes.
George’s portrait was taken by Millie Pilkington, who also snapped Prince Louis’s 5th birthday photos, Princess Charlotte’s 8th birthday snaps and William’s Father’s Day photoshoot with George, Louis and Charlotte.
“So honored to share with you this portrait of the charming young Prince George to celebrate his 10th birthday,” Pilkington wrote on her Instagram account Saturday.
The photographer added: “A heartfelt thank you to @princeandprincessofwales for entrusting me to take his portrait. As always, feeling deeply honored and very lucky. And wishing Prince George the very happiest of birthdays.”

Kate, an avid photographer, has taken photos for the children’s birthdays and other hallmark moments for the three in the past years.
As George has gotten older and ascended to second in line to the British throne, he’s been given some special duties and invited to outings with his parents sans Charlotte and Louis.

In May, William and Kate’s oldest participated in King Charles III’s coronation as one of his grandfather’s pages of honor. Carrying one corner of Charles’ gilded robe, he walked in the procession with the king and Queen Consort Camilla into Westminster Abbey at the outset of the ceremony and stood behind his grandfather during important moments inside the church.
George wore red ceremonial garments signifying his official duties.
Later, George would accompany his father to a cricket match in July and a Wimbledon tennis match with both his parents and Charlotte that same month.
